I am Karen, a CBC (Canadian born Chinese). I grew up in Vancouver and then moved to Hong Kong. Now I am back and reside in Montreal! While Canada is calm and relaxing, Hong Kong is fast-paced and exciting. I don’t think I will ever be able to truly decide which place I can really call home, because both cities have been such a big part of my life.
I graduated from the University of British Columbia and am excited for where I take life. I spend quite a bit of time playing online games. Maybe a bit too much. Which works out, because I now work in the gaming industry!
What do I blog about? Here is a short list:
- my life
- movie reviews
- food/restaurant reviews
- game reviews
- random stuff
- and some more random stuff
If it has anything to do with my life, you’ll probably see a post about it on my blog. I’ve always loved stumbling onto other people’s personal blogs. I get this brief glimpse through the window to their life. It’s interesting to see what people do and blog about from different parts of the world. I hope that you get to experience the same thing upon finding my blog. You may find that most of my posts focus on my life in Canada, so if you’re a fellow Canadian, my posts might be more relatableβ but even if you’re not, I’m sure there’s still something for you here!
So moving on to what defines me and who I really am. I wish I knew, but for now, I can throw in several descriptions here such as:
- dislike hotel pillows.
- hates the taste of cucumbers.
- thinks dunked Oreos are way better than non-dunked ones. Eating an Oreo without an accompanying glass of milk is a disgrace.
- thinks you cannot go wrong with eggs, potatoes and cheese (so yes, I love breakfast).
- tear ducts are super liberal in when they activateβa.k.a. anything can set me off crying. Happy tears? Sad tears? Excited tears? Tears from being emotionally touched? Unleash the waterworks.
- is constantly changing so any of the above may not apply at any point in time.
But those are only a few things that I feel come to my mind when asked to describe myself. If you think there should be something else there on the list after reading my blog, feel free to drop me a line!
Amen to your love for eggs, potatoes and cheese! β€ I love this too! π Nice to meet you!

:’) Thank you for showing me this vid! I seriously love Will Wheaton! I saw him live at a convention last year and he spoke out on girls being gamers and getting into the culture that used to be male dominated. Actually felt tears welling up.
You know, I was looking up movie tickets for a showing tonight. I had a question about D-Box and some how after a few clicks, I was here. I’m not complaining by any means. There indeed was something fascinating about seeing the world through your perspective. I enjoyed that even though Vancouver is pretty far from Texas, I could see a commonality in our interests in Film and the philosophy that no Oreo should ever go undunked. To put it gracefully, when ever you may feel alone or different in the world, remember that somewhere out there someone shares the same thought. Breath of fresh air. I hope since this posting you have completed your studies and have made your goal of working in the gaming industry a reality.
Wow thanks for this unexpected message! Really made my day and I’m glad to find an ally in oreo dunking π
As an update I have yet to graduate because I’m doing co-op work terms between my studies and not yet in the gaming industry. But as always, fingers crossed!
Great Blog Karen! I will subscribe to follow along π P.S. While Oreo dunking is a defiantly plus, have you tried putting the Oreo’s in the fridge? Let them get cold for a while and they are significantly better as a stand alone cookie, although one should be jailed for leaving a cookie to stand alone, eat lots of them π
Hey Chris! Welcome to my blog!!
Okay, I have not tried the Oreo in the fridge thing, but now I have to, with your recommendation. Never even heard of this, but maybe you’ve just introduced me to a new world of Oreo eating.
Karen, I HATE mushrooms too! I hope you’re doing great – maybe we’ll run into each other one day.
